Why I transferred to 鶹ƽ

by Peter MacDonald

Biology major Moses Acee ’26 of Ballston Spa, New York, explains his decision to transfer to 鶹ƽ and why 鶹ƽ was a good fit for him.

Why did you opt to transfer to 鶹ƽ?

I transferred to 鶹ƽ because of its reputation as a top liberal arts school with strong STEM departments. In addition, I had several work opportunities at nearby Albany Medical Center and Saratoga Hospital that I wanted to pursue on my path to medical school, and so I felt 鶹ƽ was the perfect choice for me. I have also known for a while that 鶹ƽ’s student body and faculty embrace an academic and personal growth environment essential to success after college.

What does 鶹ƽ offer you that your previous college did not?

Robust STEM departments with plenty of resources, coupled with a strong liberal arts education. (Those resources include the  newly completed, state-of-the-art Billie Tisch Center for Integrated Sciences.) Saratoga Springs is also a great place to go to college.

What advice do you have for others considering transferring to 鶹ƽ?

Come to 鶹ƽ if you are looking for faculty who will guide and support you in your future goals and peers who share the same ambition and will support you.

Are you glad you transferred?

I am very happy at 鶹ƽ. I’m also more confident about what I can get out of my undergraduate education and personal relationships.

What's the best part of 鶹ƽ so far?

Getting to know some of the nicest students I have met and learning under professors who are very passionate and knowledgeable in their work.

What are your future hopes/plans?

I plan to take a gap year to do research after graduation in pursuit of becoming a doctor one day after attending medical school. I’m currently assisting Dr. Neil Leapman, associate professor of otolaryngology-head and neck surgery and director of ENT (ear, nose, and throat) research and innovation, with his clinical research at the Albany Medical Center.
