The Susan Hirsch Schwartz Fund

The Susan Hirsch Schwartz fund was established to encourage the involvement of students receiving financial aid and grant money in off-campus career and graduate school exploration. 

how to apply

  1. Apply Online: Complete and submit your application through the online portal.
  2. Eligibility Notification: Your application will be reviewed, and you will be notified of your eligibility within 5 business days.
Requirements:
  • First-Come, First-Serve Basis: Funds are available on a first-come, first-served basis. They must be spent and received within 30 days of award approval.
  • Receipts: After your eligibility is confirmed, submit receipts to Idalia Sepúlveda for reimbursement processing.
  • Thank You Note: A Thank You Note is required to be sent to the donor, Susan Hirsch Schwartz. Your note will be proofread and revised if necessary, and then forwarded on your behalf. Please submit your message to Idalia Sepúlveda.
Reimbursement Timeline:

Once you are approved and have provided all required documentation, your reimbursement request will be processed by the Accounts Payable Office. A check will be issued within 10 business days.

award amount and criteria

The SHS Fund provides up to $150 for approved expenses such as travel assistance, interview attire, graduate school test and application fees, and other career-related costs. All expenses must be preapproved by the Career Development Center, and students are eligible for one award per academic year. The award can cover multiple purchases, with a total reimbursement of up to $150 for all approved expenses.

Receipts for all expenses must be submitted together, and cash advances are not permitted.

Examples of what could be funded:
  • Travel to informational or job interviews
  • Professional business attire for interviews and internships
  • Regional networking receptions or career fairs
  • Off-campus graduate school fairs
  • Grad school application fees and test prep materials

NOTE: The fund is not available for clothing for school (including winter clothing), textbooks, college fees, etc.
