Approve Minutes from 25 January and 1 February II. CEPP had a robust discussion of the Grade Appeal Policy in advance of Fridays forum for the Grade Appeal Policy. Discussion centered on what role CAFR should play in the grade appeal process. III. Ann Henderson and Anita Harris joined CEPP to discuss policies for transfer credits for online and hybrid courses. Anita and Ann provided a historical account of our policy on accepting on-line classes for credit. The current policy of not accepting on-line classes for credit goes back at least 20 years. When the original policy was established many of the on-line courses were more correspondence classes where students were mailed a CD. Ten years ago, IRC had a discussion about accepting on-line courses with CEPP and CAS. The proposal did not go forward because there were concerns about the variability in the quality of on-line classes and extent of interaction between faculty and students at other schools. Ann noted that while we currently do not officially or knowingly accept on-line classes for credit, the policy is subject to a good deal of inconsistency in practice. Anita will interrogate students about the mode of delivery for classes taken during the summer. If they indicate the course is on-line, the Registrar will not accept it for credit. However, if the student did not indicate it is an on-line class, the transcript received by the Registrars office would not usually indicate the mode of delivery. The American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers official policy is that transcripts should not record the mode of delivery. Moreover, a transfer student who took on-line classes at another institution would be able to transfer in those credits. 鶹ƽ also offers on-line classes as part of a pilot program established 10 years ago including Biology of the Mind taught by Roy Meyers and Statistics taught by Dan Hurwitz.
