Elizabeth Stauderman named VP for communications and marketing

A seasoned communications expert and strategic adviser with decades of experience in public affairs and external relations, Stauderman will join Â鶹Æƽâ°æ on June 1. 

Â鶹Æƽâ°æ free speech symposium models listening and understanding

Students are applying lessons from coursework to consider challenging topics facing free speech in a campus symposium featuring leading intellectuals, including New York Times columnist David Brooks, April 14-15.

President’s Awards for Leadership and Service 2023 

Individuals or teams from the Â鶹Æƽâ°æ community may be nominated for a 2023 President’s Award for Leadership and Service until 4 p.m. Thursday, April 13. The President's Awards for Leadership and Service recognize Â鶹Æƽâ°æ community members who have embraced the educational mission and community spirit of the College through their exemplary commitment to personal excellence, campus pride, and service to others. ‘She Said’ film screening; Megan Twohey event

Join the Peer Health Educators and It Happens Here Commission for a free screening of the 2022 film “She Said†at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 6, in Davis Auditorium. The film covers the story of how two New York Times journalists first broke the Harvey Weinstein case. Journalist Megan Twohey will speak at Â鶹Æƽâ°æ on Monday, April 10, in an event that benefits Wellspring. .

 

Saratoga Hospital: Initiatives and Challenges

The Retiree Initiative Planning Group invites you to attend a presentation and Q&A with Angelo Calbone, who recently retired as Saratoga Hospital president and CEO, and Dr. Mallory Otto of Saratoga Hospital’s Geriatric Care team at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19, at the Surrey-Williamson Inn. The presentation will include an overview of recent initiatives, challenges, and the hospital’s recent designation as an age-friendly health system.  For more information, contact Michael West.

 

Sexual Assault Awareness 5K Run-Walk 

The Â鶹Æƽâ°æ Office of Health Promotion and the Peer Health Educators will host the first Â鶹Æƽâ°æ 5K Run-Walk in support of Sexual Assault Awareness Month at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 16. or register beginning at 12:15 p.m. in the Zankel parking lot on the day of the event. A free T-shirt will be given out to the first 200 people. A donation to Wellspring is encouraged.

 

Sign up for free CDPHP Cycle membership

All students and employees can join the CDPHP Cycle program for free. Visit the website, select the green "unlock your access" button, choose Â鶹Æƽâ°æ College, and use your @skidmore.edu email address in the form. Membership is valid for CDPHP Cycle bikes throughout the Capital Region. E-bikes will join the fleet of bicycles this year. For more information, contact Jen Natyzak.

Long-term campus tree plan  

As construction of Â鶹Æƽâ°æ’s McCaffery-Wagman Tennis and Wellness Center continues, Â鶹Æƽâ°æ affirms its commitment to sustainability and the stewardship of the Earth in line with its current strategic plan and Campus Master Plan. The College will be planting nearly 1.5 times as many trees as have been removed for the project: 52 trees are now being planted along North Broadway, 142 trees (along with 1,000 shrubs and perennials) will be planted as part of the McCaffery-Wagman project, and another 50 new trees will be planted elsewhere on campus by the end of next year.

 

Admissions Discovery Tour 

The Admissions Office invites campus offices and student groups to participate in the Discovery Tour, an accepted student's day program for the BIPOC student community. Our goal is to highlight campus resources for candidates considering Â鶹Æƽâ°æ, including academics, intercultural life, and student life, as well as the perspectives of current students. , to participate in our Resource Roundtable session from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 13, on the second floor of Murray-Aikins Dining Hall. Summer housing information  

Students interested in living on campus this summer are invited to stop by the summer housing information table in the Murray-Aikins Dining Hall atrium from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, or Thursday, April 13, to learn more. Applications for summer housing are now open.

 

Committee on Intercultural and Global Understanding (CIGU) office hour

The Committee on Intercultural and Global Understanding (CIGU), Â鶹Æƽâ°æ’s main shared governance diversity, equity, and inclusion committee, will hold an open office hour from 9 to 10 a.m. on Friday, April 14. All students, staff, and faculty are invited to request a 10-minute, virtual appointment. To register, please email Alberta Parsons. Requests will be handled in the order they are received.

 

Good Friday and Easter services 

Wilson Chapel will be open from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for . All members of the campus community are invited to gather at 4:30 p.m. outside the chapel to walk the Stations of the Cross. Students interested in Holy Week and Easter services should contact the Office of Religious and Spiritual life for carpooling info. Athletics News

The spring sports season heats up at home this weekend. The riding team will host Zone 2 finals at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, with the team and individuals competing for a shot at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Championship show in May. The golf team will host the Tim Brown Invitational on Saturday and Sunday at the Ballston Spa Country Club. Tee times will be announced on Thursday. The rowers will take on Union College on Fish Creek this Saturday. Check for start times. On Friday, the baseball team will play Vassar in a single game at Castle Diamond at 3:30 p.m. Softball will host Delhi in a doubleheader at noon on Saturday.
