鈥�New Student Convocation 

Cheer on the Class of 2028 as they process along the the walkway between the Tang and the tent on Upper South Park beginning at 9:45 a.m., on Tuesday, Sept. 3. The ceremony will begin at 10:15 a.m. under the tent on Upper South Park Lawn. (In the case of severe weather, Convocation will be held in Arthur Zankel Music Center for new students only.) 鈥�鈥孎ounder鈥檚 Day Picnic

鈥孋elebrate the start of the academic year from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., on Tuesday, Sept. 3, in the tent at Upper South Park. Murray-Aikins Dining Hall will be closed during this time. 鈥孖mportant traffic reminders 

鈥孫ver 400 students will be arriving at campus on Thursday, Aug. 29, with the remainder of first-year and transfer students arriving on Sunday, Sept. 1. Please use the Clinton Street entrance instead of the North Broadway entrance, especially between 8 and 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 29. To access Greenberg Child Care Center, use the Clinton Street entrance; take a left towards Palamountain Hall, and use the service entrance. Access to the following lots is restricted between the hours of 7 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on these dates (unless otherwise noted): Tower Lot; Wait Lot and Barrett Loop; west half of Case Lot (near McClellan Hall); north end of West Lot, closest to Penfield Hall (vehicles should be removed from the north end by 8 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 28, through the evening of Sept. 1), and Arts Quad A (鈥孼ankel Lot). More information can be found in an email sent by Campus Safety on Aug. 22.

Constitution Day Lecture with Susan McWilliams Barndt 

鈥孌istinguished author and scholar Susan McWilliams Barndt will lead this year鈥檚 Constitution Day Lecture, 鈥�A Tale of Two Liberalisms: Desegregating American Political Thought鈥� at 5 p.m., on Monday, Sept. 9, in the Payne room of the Tang Teaching Museum. The lecture is one of many events this fall aimed at educating students and the broader community about the important issues at stake in the Nov. 5 U.S. elections and preparing them to participate in the democratic process.

鈥孋ampus Safety move and interim fleet vehicle process 

鈥孴he Department of Campus Safety has begun its relocation from Jonsson Tower to a new office space on the first floor of the Annex. As part of this move, all fleet vehicles have been relocated to the Falstaff parking lot, where they will need to be picked up and dropped off. All vehicles have a designated parking spot, which should be clearly marked.

鈥孴he Scribner Library is seeking donations for its annual book sale, supporting the annual library student worker awards. Donations can be books of any genre in good condition and should be dropped off at the Circulation Desk, to the attention of Patty Kolberg.

鈥�鈥孨ew Burgess drinks launch and half-price deal 

鈥孊urgess caf茅 is launching a new Botrista beverage system, which will make customized, made-to-order boba teas, milk teas, fruit smoothies, and refresher drinks, the week of Sept. 3. Botrista drinks will be offered at a half price discount the entire first week of classes, and representatives will offer samples.

The program includes free access to pedal bikes, and e-bikes are free for the first 30 minutes (e-bikes parked outside of Cycle! racks are charged a $2 convenience fee). In addition to its locations throughout Saratoga Springs and the capital region, there are racks on the covered walkway near the entrance to Scribner Library and at the southeast corner of Northwoods Apartments. 鈥孴he tennis courts will be closed Friday, Aug. 30, through Tuesday, Sept. 3. The courts will resume normal semester hours of 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday and 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Contact Peter Fisher for more information.

Athletics News

The 麻豆破解版 Athletics teams, already a week into on-campus training, are back this weekend with the first competition of the fall season. Field hockey has the first home game of the year, hosting Thomas College at noon on Friday, Aug. 30. The women鈥檚 volleyball team begins its campaign in California with four matches this weekend. Men鈥檚 soccer will visit Utica University on Friday night, and women鈥檚 soccer goes back-to-back on the road against St. John Fisher University and SUNY Brockport.
