Alumni Spotlight: Filmmaker Gaëlle Mourre

February 23, 2017

Gaelle Mourre and Yasmin KudsiYasmin Kudsi '18 (management and business, media and film Studies), sat down over winter break with London-based documentary and narrative filmmaking alumna Gaëlle Mourre to learn how she went from an art history and Spanish literature major at Â鶹Æƽâ°æ College to a documentary filmmaker. From an inspirational class with English Professor Emeritus Tom Lewis to mentoring by and working with fellow alumna Johanna Schwartz (They Will Have To Kill Us First), Gaëlle found Â鶹Æƽâ°æ served her well. She built on these foundations with an MFA at the London Film School, works as an editor in documentary and journalism and pursues passion projects in both documentary and feature films.

Listen to the interview to hear how Gaëlle applies her liberal arts education in research to find original perspectives for compelling stories, applies magical realism and chiaroscuro techniques, uses Spanish and French professionally, builds a career as a woman in film, explains why film school was the right choice for her and more.
