Walking the Line: Fact and Fiction

May 31–July 1, 2016

STORYTELLERS' HOME

Attend

The Storytellers' Institute offers a wide range of public events throughout the month of June that highlight current and past documentary works and enrich the conversation surrounding the annual theme. These events include an opening-week kickoff keynote event, public presentation of each institute fellow's work and a Â鶹Æƽâ°æ doc showcase. These events may be in the form of screenings, audio listenings or 2D/3D exhibits and always include a chance for discussion around the work and its relation back to the annual theme. All events are free and open to the public.

In 2016, the Storytellers' Institute hosts its first Festosium, a three-day celebration and dissection of documentarians' engagement with this year's annual theme, "Fact and Fiction: Walking the Line." Guest curators Ann Hepperman (sound) and Jeff Daniel Silva (film), special guests and a virtual-reality team will engage the institute and public in a packed weekend of screenings, panel discussions, virtual exploration and thought-provoking conversation. These events are all free, and we welcome the public to join us for one, some, or all of them!

Another first this year is the partnership between the Storytellers' Institute and the historical Spring Street Gallery in downtown Saratoga Springs. Throughout June, the gallery will feature work from this year's institute fellows and Â鶹Æƽâ°æ students and faculty. Opening events welcome the Saratoga Springs community and greater Capital Region to join in the conversation on "fact and fiction" in documentary work.
