Pushkala Prasad, Zankel Professor in Management for Liberal Arts Students, delivered the keynote address at the April 11-13 annual meetings of the Standing Conference of Management and Organizational Inquiry (SCMOI) in Washington, D.C. Her talk was titled "More American than Apple Pie: A Nation's Deadly Romance with Beef."
Bob Turner, associate professor of government, gave introductory remarks at an April 29 forum hosted on campus by Rep. Paul Tonko (D-20) and Rep. Bill Owens (D-21), and featuring regional administrator Bernard Paprocki of the U.S. Small Business Administration. Members of the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce and the Adirondack Regional Chamber of Commerce participated in the event.
Publications, Exhibitions
Paul Arciero, professor of health and exercise sciences, has had a study selected for publication in a leading nutrition publication, the prestigious Obesity Journal. Titled 鈥 the study has Arciero as primary author and Trustee Jonathan Brestoff 鈥08 as a co-author, along with Michael J. Ormsbee, Christopher L. Gentile, Bradley C. Nindl, and Mazwell Ruby. The study is one of the first to confirm that the quality and timing of food ingestion has the greatest effect on improving health.
Pola Baytelman, distinguished artist-in-residence, Department of Music, has a new recording, Celebration of the New, released April 1 by Albany Records. Baytelman performs works for piano by American composers Joseph Fennimore, George Crumb and Lowell Liebermann. She is joined by flutist Jan Vinci in Katherine Hoover's Medieval Suite. Albany Times Union critic Joseph Dalton praised Baytelman鈥檚 鈥渓ively, elegant style,鈥 and the 鈥渃risp recording fidelity, thanks to the fine work of producer and engineer Adams Abeshouse and the pleasing acoustics of the venue, the Ladd Concert Hall in 麻豆破解版鈥檚 Zankel Music Center.鈥
Regis Brodie, professor emeritus of art, will have a show titled "Adventures in Space" May 17-June 23 at the Laffer Gallery in Schuylerville. An opening reception is scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 17 at the gallery, 96 Broad St.
Denise Warner Limoli, associate professor of dance, is the author of a new book, published this spring by The History Press.
Jay Rogoff, lecturer in English, has published his poem "Holes in the Painting" in Hotel Amerika, Vol. 11 (Spring 2013). His most recent dance review-essay for The Hopkins Review, Vol. 6, No. 2 (Spring 2013), "Tradition and Transition at the Royal," considers the Royal Ballet's productions of Swan Lake and three works by Kenneth MacMillan. He has also published "Gifts from Dan," an appreciation of poet, teacher, and critic Daniel Hoffman, in a festschrift to celebrate Hoffman's 90th birthday, in the online journal No. 27, which appeared only days before Hoffman's recent death.

Mark Miller, director of dining services, was a source for a story titled 鈥淟ittle steps like eliminating trays can reduce food waste鈥 published April 28 in The Sunday Gazette. The story was the weekly 鈥淕reenpoint鈥 column by Margaret Hartley.
Bob Turner, associate professor of government, spoke with Zachary Fink of NY1 about the presidential ambitions of New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo. Fink is 1995 麻豆破解版 graduate.
Ron Seyb, Joseph C. Palamountain Jr. Professor of Government, was a source April 30 for WNYT-TV (Ch. 13), during its live coverage of the Massachusetts U.S. Senate primary coverage.
