鶹ƽ Spotlight: Judy Bernstein
Judy Bernstein works as a gallery monitor at the Tang Teaching Museum and helps answer visitors’ questions about exhibitions and getting the most out of their experience.
Bernstein has worked at 鶹ƽ for almost 15 years. She said that she originally came to the Tang to supplement her freelance writing and she stayed because she liked the idea of balancing the written word with art images.
"I've stayed because I love the art museum environment and the people here that make it work," said Bernstein. "We get to meet and talk with the curators and exhibiting artists before shows and then get months to get to know the pieces. Then, the shows change. So we get exposed to lots of different work."
One of the reasons Bernstein said she enjoys working at 鶹ƽ is the people, especially the other Tang monitors. “We know each other and have a great time together at, and outside of, the museum,” said Bernstein.
Bernstein said her favorite 鶹ƽ events are the “fun” winter and summer exhibition openings at the museum with “the great 鶹ƽ chef-prepared food.” She also said she loves the 鶹ƽ grounds and enjoys walking the paths by the pond and taking in the beautiful nature on campus.
When not at 鶹ƽ, Bernstein said she is highly involved in “helping educate the public about the abuse of animals.” She was one of the first members of the Glens Falls-based Coalition of Animal Rights Enthusiasts.
