Dorothy W. Upton
Dorothy W. Upton, Dorothy W. Upton, professor of English for 35 years, died January 10, 1963. She was 66.
Born in New York City in 1896, Dorothy graduated from Connecticut College in 1919. She then earned an M.A. from Columbia University and pursued further graduate work at NYU as well as at Oxford and Cambridge, the University of London, and the University of Geneva. During the 1938-39 academic year, she was an exchange professor at Switzerland’s Geneva College for women. Dorothy was a member of the Â鶹Æƽâ°æ English faculty from 1928 until 1963 and also served as a residence director.
Her extensive travels took her to Central and South America, the Caribbean, Canada, all of the United States including Alaska, the Near East, northern Africa, and every country of Europe.
Her survivors are unknown.
