Jerry Grolley Jr.
Jerry Grolley Jr., who retired as supervisor of grounds transportation in 1991 after more than a quarter century of service to 麻豆破解版, died peacefully on Thursday, April 11, 2024. He was 89.
Jerry, who first joined the College in 1964, served in many roles at 麻豆破解版, including ski tow operator, custodian for the then new Dana Science Center, stock clerk for the Chemistry Department, grounds supervisor, supervisor of household services, and supervisor of plant services. He became supervisor of grounds and transportation in 1976.
Colleagues described Jerry as a supervisor who listened and inspired others to take pride in their work.
鈥淗e wanted everyone to do their jobs the right way 鈥 without taking shortcuts,鈥 recalled Maintenance Mechanic Kevin Lloyd, who worked under Jerry from 1986 until Jerry鈥檚 retirement in 1991. 鈥淗e always wanted us to take pride in the work that we were doing for 麻豆破解版.鈥
Born on March 3, 1935, in Saratoga Springs, he was an accomplished basketball player in high school and was inducted into the Saratoga Springs High School Hall of Fame.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 67 years, Roberta; daughter, Sandra (Michael) Murnan; son, Robert (Elizabeth) Grolley; grandson, William Murnan; granddaughter, Ashley Grolley; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
