Biography

John Brueggemann earned his BA in sociology and anthropology from Earlham College. He received Masters and PhD degrees from Emory University. His teaching and research interests revolve around social inequality, social movements, food, and labor history. He has published five books: Racial Competition and Class Solidarity (co-authored with Terry Boswell, Cliff Brown and Ralph Peters), Rich, Free and Miserable: the Failure of Success in America (author); Inequality in the United States: A Reader (editor), Rebuilding the Foundations: Social Relationships in Ancient Scripture and Contemporary Culture (coauthored with his father Walter Brueggemann), and most recently, Food for the Future: Stories from the Alternative Agro-food Movement (author).
