Praised by critics as 鈥渁 pianist who is truly passionate, sensitive, and musical 鈥 an extremely polished, expressive, and vibrant pianist,鈥 Young Kim, a Steinway Artist, has performed internationally as a soloist in recitals and with orchestras, in addition to appearing numerous times as a chamber musician.  A native of South Korea, Kim has performed in major concert venues in Korea including the Seoul Arts Center.  In Russia, she has appeared as soloist with the Saint Petersburg State Capella Symphony Orchestra. Since moving to the Capital District in 2000, she has appeared as a soloist with Schenectady Symphony Orchestra and Glens Falls Symphony Orchestra several times and has performed solos and chamber music actively in the area.

Dr. Kim has been frequently invited to present lectures, recitals, and piano master classes in colleges and universities in Asia, Europe and in the US. Most recently, she was invited to perform and present piano master classes at the University of Szeged in Hungary, University of Seoul, Yamaha Hall, and Kookmin University in Seoul, Korea.

In October 2019, Dr. Kim was inducted into the Steinway & Sons Teacher Hall of Fame, a prestigious designation recognizing the work of the most committed and passionate piano educators in the country. This was the very first year the award was given and she was one of 43 teachers selected. Further highlighting her excellence as an educator, Dr. Kim was the recipient of the 2016 Thomas A. Manion Distinguished Faculty Award at the College of Saint Rose. This award is presented to a faculty member in recognition of excellence in teaching, outstanding professional accomplishment, and concern for the students demonstrated by influencing their personal and professional lives.

Dr. Kim was a Professor of Piano at The College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY from 2002-2021, where she was an active performer and one of the founding members of the Saint Rose Camerata, a faculty chamber ensemble. Additionally, at Saint Rose, Kim established a piano lecture-recital series, 鈥淵oung Kim and Saint Rose Pianists,鈥 and performed with her students annually at the Massry Center for the Arts in Albany since 2009. Dr. Kim also founded Piano Intensive Study, a summer program at Saint Rose Summer Youth Music for pre-college students in 2010 and directed the Piano Program.
