Michael Ondaatje is one of the world’s leading writers. Born in Sri Lanka, long resident in Toronto, he is the author of seven novels, a memoir (Running In The Family) and several books of poetry. His novel, The English Patient, won the 1993 Booker Prize and in 2018 was awarded “The Golden Man Booker” as the best book ever awarded a Booker Prize in the fifty years of the award. The novel was made into a 1996 feature film that won eleven academy awards including “Best Picture.” Ondaatje’s novel, Anil’s Ghost, won the Prix Medicis “Best Novel Award” in France, the Irish International Fiction Prize and the Giller Prize. His new novel, Warlight, appeared on the summer 2018 “recommended” reading list by former President Obama in The Washington Post this past summer.

Michael Ondaatje will speak about his work, read an excerpt from his novel Warlight and respond to audience questions.
